Today I was pulling up sod for a new perennial bed and found white particulant mixed in the soil (giving it a grey appearance) that smelled much like mold. If this is mold, how do I deal with it before using the area for a perennial bed?

    Hi Sue

take a sample to your local nursery /or some place where you can have it tested. From your discription it could be any # of things (including brken down/ rotted drywall.)

They will charge anywhere from 25 to 75 bucks but it is better than guessing/ and will more than likely save you that in the long run.

    Regards Doug
