How to care for a wandering jew

Discussion in 'HortForum' started by Unregistered, Nov 30, 2005.

  1. I have a wandering jew hanging above a vent. During the summer it did well, now that we have turned on the heat, it is doing poorly. Do I need to move it to a different spot? It receives great indirect sunlight where it is now.

They don't need a lot of humidity, but the air from the vent is probably too dry for it. Move it if you can or perhaps deflect the air flow away from the plant?

Welcome him inside and offer him something to eat.

It is a curious common name is it not? It comes from the Christian legend of the Wandering Jew, who was denied death and condemned to wander the earth until the second coming (of Christ). I guess it has something to do with the sreading habit and the durable nature of the plant. Some people view the name as derogatory and use spiderwort instead.
