http://xrl.us/mzad Picture two and three are probably closest to the true colour.

A clematis plant in the neighborhood, Brantford, ON. This plant has flowered profusely during the last three years, that I have been observing it. It is certainly an eye-catching bloom.

    Another neigborhood Clematis. http://xrl.us/mz2x

Magnificient Niobe Clematis in full bloom.

My Niobe Clematis is now in full bloom, almost a mass of maroon colour. This clematis was cut back to about 10 inches in early May, so the growth is remarkable. It was going over the fence, so I pulled the top back to force it to grow sort of downward on my side of the wooden fence. Flowering is about two to three weeks after the blue clematis ( partially seen on the left in the full plant picture) and it the blooms much longer.

About 4 to 5 weeks for the Niobe. The other types about 3 weeks. This may be dependent upon the climate at the time.
