This is my first year in an allotment garden. I pull up most weeds (weeds being anything I did not plant) but these two plants looked interesting so I let them grow.

Plant #1: Low growing, fleshy stems, almost succulent-like leaves. Recently I have found more of them, and they may have come from a seed feed based organic fertilizer I used.

Plant #2: Is about 2 to 3 feet tall, purple leaves. The stalk is very wide now, and just recently I noticed what look to be fuzzy flowers (not pictured).

I hope these will be familiar to someone and thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

The Portulaca is probably the most common "weed" in my raised bed vegetable garden other than stray grasses. Could this be cultivated and grown in a container?

Portulaca oleracea can be added to salads. It's delicious. I suppose you could grow it purposely in a pot, but there is usually plenty around growing as weeds and there are more interesting things to grow in limited pot space.
