I am requesting help or a lead in identifying this plant from Ecuador (San Isidro, eastern side of Andes, elevation about 2500 meters). I am a hummingbird photographer and want to correctly identify this plant. Thank you to anyone who is knowledgeable enough to identify or point me in the correct research direction.

Those are Joyapas, Tlarimore - edible (tasty!) relatives of common blueberries. Check out the genera Cavendishia, Psammisia, and Thibaudia.

If I had to venture a guess, I'd say Thibaudia of some description, although the longer-flowered Psammisia come pretty close to it.

San Isidro - the one in Napo, or the one in Morona?

If it's San Isidro de Napo, then the plant is likely Thibaudia martiniana - it's why I asked. If it were San Isidro de Morona, I'd be pinning the ID more closely on Psammisia.
