I'm fairly confident of this one. These are just coming up (late summer). Base is staining yellow now that its been exposed for a few hours. One discrepancy is that some descriptions say the stalk gets wider in the middle, but these don't, might be too young though. Anything else to look for? Thank you for posting that Allelopath, and thank you Rob for replying. And suddenly today this is ringing a bell for me: the specimens I've seen (found on forays in the rainshadow east of Fraser Valley, ID'd by others) had a beautiful distinctive shell pink colour on the cap, which looked especially cool as a cluster of them. -frog
