This Dodecatheon pulchellum, a member of the Primulaceae, that I photographed about a week ago (April 13/14) near Oliver, BC is perhaps the most spectacular early spring flower in the South Okanagan. The reflexed petals expose the showy stamens that consist of fused filaments, that form a yellow tube surrounding the style, and purplish anthers.
