willow bark disease

    can someone tell me why the bark is literally peeling and separating from the trunks and lower limbs on six of my weeping willow trees, and what i can do to stop it before it kills them all? is it an insect or a fungus? is there a treatment for this condition or is it terminal like dutch elm disease?
