I have some planted ornamental Allium bulbs at my old house, which I would like to dig up and bring to my new place. They are one of my favourite flowers, so I was hoping to enjoy them at the new place this year.

Is it a bad idea to dig them up this spring before they bloom? Would it stunt the blooming process?

Shall I wait until after they have bloomed, this fall?

    Thanks!

I have done it both times. Sometimes when they get too crowded they stop blooming and their blooms get smaller and after separating t takes a year or so for them to bloom again. Depends on how long they have been in the ground.
