Hi everyone. I would like to first thank Millet for his help with my dwarf calamondin tree...but I have one question...I had scales and Millet told me to spray them, so I did. But how do i know when the scales are gone? There was black stuff all over a few branches and leaves, which is why scales were suspected. Will the black stuff go away if they are dead or does it take time still for it to go away? Thanks!

With most kinds of scale the telltale sign of their presence is the appearance of honeydew on the foliage. It is the excretion from the pest on which the black sooty mold grows. The clear, sticky substance will be visible to the eye long before the scale.
