I have found this plant growing in two places: on the margin of a small lake in the Merritt area, and along a shady trail in the Abbotsford area. The plant in the central photo (Merritt) stands about 60 cm tall. The leaves are three-part and about 10 cm long. A single stalk supporting one of the fuzzy heads could be 10 cm or more long. The insets show the one in Abbotsford.

Tyrlych: I think you are right. I was in doubt because the seed heads were not drooping. I guess they straighten up when ripe or dried out. Thanks.

This morning I found one with yellow flowers. This enables me to identify it as Large-Leaved Avens, Geum macrophyllum.
