How to work out correct size plant pot for plant?

    i have a plant, ( Schefflera Gold Capella) that is 104cm tall and its in a plant pot thats 21cm, looks unbalanced, how do i know how to work out what size plant pot to what size plant, anyone know, Anne

    To accomodate increased growth anything bigger = right size. To have pot and plant look in proportion to you, put similar objects (boxes, stools, whatever) next to the plant until something looks to be the right size, then go buy a pot of the same size. If you already have prospective new containers, set the plant inside different ones until you have the desired combination.

    A pot that's an inch bigger around (inside) than the rootball is what I always use.
