    Hi,

I have about 100' of well established laurel hedge which I have been chipping up the prunings from and using them as mulch around my plants and in my vegetable garden.

I have recently read http://www.thepoisongarden.co.uk/atoz/prunus_laurocerasus.htm that Laurels contain cyanide and I am now wondering if it is a bad idea to be using their mulch in my gardens?

Since my hedge generates a lot of trimmings every year I am keen to continue to use them in the garden.

    Thanks!

    Ryan

No problem. The cyanide content breaks down quickly when it is composted. As long as you don't eat lots of fresh foliage, you're OK.
