    Hi everyone,
We planted our tree last fall we live in the Pittsburgh,Pa. area. it looked healthy
when we planted it but by late spring most of the branches were turning brown we
went to the nursery and he said its too wet or too dry, when I dug it up it was too wet. I put a base of sand and river rock along with fresh top soil that was two weeks
ago and it looks totaly dead. My question is can it be saved or any other remedies
that anyone can suggest any help would be appreciated.

    Re: weeping alaskan cypress

If all the foliage is brown, sorry, no, it is dead.

PS it is a cypress (Cupressaceae), not a cedar (Cedrus)!

The sand/rock base would only serve to make the soil above damper than otherwise, so that wouldn't have helped anyway. Always provide new plants with the same soil throughout the planting area, with no zones or pockets of different material to shed or receive water.
