I have this beautiful Viridis Japanese Maple. 3 yrs ago when I planted, it was elevated much above ground. Yesterday while watering it, I thought of exposing some of its roots to give a better look. - Will baring the roots on maple hurt it ? are there any infection risks ? - Should I cover it back again with the some soil ? - Is there a process where you can get the plant used to baring roots ? I do recall seeing some maples with exposed root doing fine. I dont want this beautiful tree to go into any kind of shock. Please help. Thank you inadvance.
It's true that exposed roots give a noble appeance to trees: that's what bonsai growers do. For potted trees, there's no problem at all, so i suppose it's the same for trees in the soil ;)
