In The Garden: Need plant ID

    Can you help me identify this plant that has shown up in my perennial garden (I don't recall planting it?)

    Right now it is about 18" high and seems to be growing quickly. The (multiple) stems (see last photo) has bright green specks on them. Someone thought it might be a cherry tree or a similar fruit tree.

    I have been through every native plant book I have and i keep coming back to a very young Pacific Red Elderberry,
    Sambucus maybe Racemosa. i say young because you said 18 inches and at full growth it can get to 18 feet. Google
    and see if this fits your plant. ;)) barb
