Our neighbour has this azalea. It was planted about 30 years ago & would have come from a nursery in the Fraser Valley. Can anyone give me a clue as to which variety it might be?

I came up with Gibraltar too. Another possibility is A. Speck's Brilliant, or A. Brilliant.

All these names are in transition so may be called out as either Rhododendron or Azalea. Rhododendron hybrid, azalea group is sometimes used.

With that squarish flower shape it would be a Knaphill-Exbury hybrid and not a Mollis azalea.

Thank you all. I have been checking online & following-up your suggestions. I have found Gibraltar well illustrated & this is not it. This one seems to fit the Exbury group rather than Mollis, thank you Ron B. The closest I can get is "Klondyke".

My wife loves this plant & it's fragrance. We have been unable to propagate it by layering. I'll see if I can order one in to a local nursery.

I know a little more about Azaleas now, but I don't think I'll ever know much.

Try searching deciduous azalea propagation on the internet.
