    Hi there,

we have a few columnar, 4.5 m or 14 feet high beech trees planted as a privacy hedge along our garden fence. Of course, they would be higher if we hadn't cut them back. Anyway, we want to get more to fill a gap in the hedge. Now I have to figure out what species and variety it is. I am sure the previous owners of our house didn't go through a lot of trouble to buy them (we live in Vancouver, B.C.), so the variety is most likely easily available.

Would you have any idea what this Fagus sylvatica variety may be?

    Thank you for your help.

Check out 'Dawyck', that is the most columnar Fagus sylvatica cultivar.

I would also suggest a Dawyck cultivar.
