I've just purchased a "desert king" and am in the Comox area near the ocean. My spot for the tree is sunny and sheltered, but the neighbouring property has large cedars and fir, whose roots invade my garden. I'm thinking of containing the fig in a cement brick lined hole. Is this a good idea, and if so, how big does it need to be? Any other tips for the care and feeding of figs wold be appreciated.
