    Hi there,

Is there an accepted way, or prefix used, to indicate a new thread title redirecting the discussion from an old thread?

I don't see anything so fra in this forum or in the how-to pages, so I gather there is no way to actually make the thread calve off, but I'm new enough to forums to wonder if there is an etiquette in how you do this or indicate the connection.

I'm asking as a thread has strayed far from the original topic, but I find the discussion interesting, so would rather find a way to link it to a new thread title rather than just start a new thread.

    thanks :-)

I'd do something similar to what you've done.

    1) Start a new thread.
    2) Post in the old thread a link to the new thread.

The easiest way to do this is to get the URL of the new thread, i.e.,

    Code:
    http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=36381
and then use the thread tags:

    Code:
See this [thread=36381]thread on fungal toxicity[/thread]
    for more

producing this: See this [thread=36381]thread on fungal toxicity[/thread] for more

Or you can just copy and paste the URL of the new thread, which I suppose is even easier.
