Michigan verbena ID

    Is this a verbena? If so, what type?

    The photo was taken at the end of July in rural Livingstone County, Michigan along the Pottawattomi Trail.

    I am not even certain that the first two photos are the same species as the last photos here. Are they the same or different?

    Purple loosestrife? How embarrassing to confuse that with some sort of verbena. Thank you though.

    No problem for me that you've done that. I'm trying to learn what loosestrife looks like but haven't put any effort into it yet. All I've learned so far is that gooseneck loosestrife is something else entirely (Lysimachia).
