Identification: What is it?

    My horses were smelling this orange sponge-like thing. I'm not even sure if it's a plant or fungus. When you get close to it, you can smell the stink coming from it. Inside it there seems to be some kind of brown, slimly liquid. Can anyone tell me what this is?

    Looks like a kind of stinkhorn.

    Probably Clathrus columnatus.
