    Hi everyone,

I have been searching for an answer to my question and will continue to do so but I would like to see if someone can help me out from this forum. I just purchased what I understand to be a Pachira Aquatica, it seems to be young (the bottom of the stem looks like tree trunk) and it is braided. I really am hoping to get this plant into 'bonsai status' with a short, wide stature...what can I do? Some things I was hoping to do:
    -new, more shallow pot
-trim the roots to a shorter length and put some mesh under the centre of the mass of roots to encourage root growth horizontally
-the stem/trunk is about 15-20cm right now with no low foliage...i was thinking of cutting the stems to a really short height and letting things grow from there. Is this an option? If not how can I get the foliage to grow lower and thicker?

Thank you very much for any help on the subject.
P.S. i will be growing this plant indoors

Ok so I have pruned the money tree down to 3 branches down from 5. Is this enough or should I attempt to cut the tree at its trunk to encourage a shorter height? Thanks.
