    Hi Everyone:

Great forum! Read all the time and very interesting topics.

I have a quick question. I have recently bought a number of different fruit trees that are not trademarked or registered or where you have to pay a royalty.

For example I bought a peach tree which is a Redhaven and the rootstock is Bailey. I am very interesting in creating new trees by propagating by either grafting or buding.

Mostly for fun and a hobby. Maybe to resell if allowed.

Question: Can a dig up a small piece of rootstock from the peach root system and cut a piece of new growth from the tree itself and graph the two to create another Redhaven?

Checking the web for rootstock most is lots of 100 and pretty steep.

I guess any feedback or recommendations how how to start my new hobby would be great.

For peaches, you can grow a seedling as rootstock. If you have rootstock suckers that can be dug up, you can use those (some plum rootstocks also work for peach). Most peaches are done as summer buds rather than winter grafts.
