Plant identification

    Is anyone familiar with this plant? I found it on a friend's property on the north shore. It's a shrub with shiny leaves and a cluster of black/blue berries at the top.

    The dominant weed ivy in this region - which sample shown looks to be - is Hedera helix ssp. hibernica, a triploid that some would have be its own species H. hibernica. If the friend has a small or smallish area of it he should jerk it all out, otherwise in time it may cover a large portion of his land.
