I am unsure if palms put out seeds at a certain time of the year, or just randomly. I ask this because I'm driving down to central florida for a vacation in mid march, and am wondering if any one knows of palms that will have seeds ready for me to pick at that time.By the way I will be driving, so I'm going to pass through Georgia and the carolinas, so palm from those states could be included too.

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks

Are you going to tell them?

All seeds of US origin require a phytosanitary permit these days. The purpose being to prevent the introduction of any new pests to Canada. Even though we might deem the risk negligble (especially with pests targeting palms in Sudbury), Ag. Canada ultimately has that responsibility.

I have as recently as two weeks ago, had seeds sent from SC without anything more than the declaration sticker on the envelope stating "clean palm seeds".

    Cheers, LPN.

I was sent some Butia capitata, Sabal minor, Sabal palmetto, Serenoa repens and Yucca aloifolia. Coming next week are some Phoenix canariensis seeds from there too.

    Cheers, LPN.
