    Hey all,

I live in Ottawa in a 13 story high rise building and my apartment is on the roof with a 12' x 18' deck professionally installed with foam supporting the weight on a torch-on roof.

I have a new puppy who is having trouble making the 13 story trek down stairs in time to go pee so I was hoping to set up a small 4' x 4' planter box with sod on my deck so we can quickly take her out there when she needs to pee, and from there take the long trek downstairs for a walk.

I know that the weight can be supported without issue (there are a number of heavy installations on the opposite side of my apartment/the roof), however I am unsure what depth of soil/drainage rocks, etc I would need for this box for it to sustain the sod.

If anyone has some advice I would greatly appreciate it!!

    Michael

Have you looked at the "Potty Patch"? It didn't work for my older dogs, (they think it's a great place to sleep) but maybe a pup would be trainable. Female dog urine tends to kill plants. barb
