I have a plant someone left at a house my sister must moved into. The base of it looks like a sago palm but the fronds have small thorns on them and the leaves are spaced apart and are round and waxey. It looks like it may have a "baby" in the pot with it and I was wanting to get it but I wanted to know what it is first. Thank you for any help you can give me on this.

Check out Zamia furfuracea pics and see if that fits. It's a cycad, like the sago. Not very thorny, but most cycads can prick you in some way, on the caudex if nowhere else.
