Hello,,im new to this board. Help me save my lemon tree. I bought a nice lemon tree($250) about 2 years ago and didnt have any problems untill a few months ago. The leaves are turning yellow and falling off. The tree has about 15 leaves left, so it is in bad shape. It actually started blooming a few weeks ago but no new leaves are growing. The leaves also have a white powdery substance on them?? Does anyone have any ideas how to save it? It is planted outside in florida. Thanks in advance!! Before this problem it had lots of leaves and lemons!!!
A white powdery substance could mean your lemon is infested with mealy bugs. Could you post a pic? Cheers, LPN.
It sounds like you might have powdery mildew--check this site:http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/3000/3047.html If not that, you may have mealy bugs. http://www.plantranchco.com/Bugs/Mealy.htm There are a number of pesticides that will help eliminate them (such as spinosad) in addition to several other options like Dishwashing soap mixed with water--about 2 tbs/qt will work, horticultural oil will also help.
