Hi all, I'm hoping I can borrow your collective genius if you have the time. There is a plant that grows in my garden (in north-west England) that I am struggling to identify. I've attached some pictures of the leaves as, to my knowledge, it does not flower. The plant is a bush (or shrub, if there is a difference) that can grow up to about 4 feet in height. The reddish trim to the leaves has started to appear over the last two weeks, before which the leaves were entirely green. Thanking you in advance. Cathal
in the UK? also, I forgot to say that those leaves are a little over 1cm across.. I always thought of maple as quite broad-leaved? Regards Cathal
Welcome plyacs. Acers or maples can come with large leaves such as Acer pseudoplatanus. Common name Sycamore, or smaller leaved ones such as Acer campestre, common name field maple. Both these can be found growing in Britain wild along hedgerows. There are also many cultivated Acers with all sizes of leaves sold in garden centres and found in gardens here.
