My mother got this start frrom a friend then passed it on to me. it has a stalk like a philadendron and the leaves are solid green in color, somewhat shaped like a philadendron, but they curl in an odd way. Does anyone know what it is? Is it a type of philadendron?

Compare with Hoya compacta - it's not looking like an Aroid to me at all.

That's a verry strong posibility. Thank you. I will just have to see what it does as it grows. I like those flowers tho, so I hope it is.
