Hi, Please help identify this tree. It is about 3ft tall. Leaves are green in the front & purple on the back & they are all consolidated towards the top of the trunk. Trunk is tall & skinny about ½ " dia. The tree is in South Africa. I have placed a permanent marker against the trunk to indicate size.

The Jatropha species seem to have a lot of similiar characteristics but the unidentified tree has a thinner, longer root structure as apposed to the Jatropha which all seem to have a bulb root system.?

I suspect your tree may be the juvenile phase of Brachychiton populneus.
