Hello, Could anyone please help identify this shrub? It's growing in our sunny Vancouver yard and thrives without any particular care. It is very thorny. For scale, the wooden frame is 4 inches wide. Cheers, Laine
A bit hard to tell but it looks like it might be one of the purple-leafed cultivars of Berberis thunbergii. I'm presuming that it has been deciduous over winter and is just coming into leaf.
