Here's another fungus I found in the same place on Vancouver island and am wondering if it could be a chicken of the woods? It was growing on a fallen rotted log and was attached quite firmly. A piece of wood from the log can be seen still attached. It is about 5 inches wide and 3 inches high. Thanks for your help!

Salt Chuck, the photos definitely look like Laetiporus sulphureus, well past its prime. I assume that the pictures were taken some time ago, since by now they should all be pretty rotten and bleached white. I still find the white remnants of these mushrooms on logs or on the ground below. They are quite identifiable until the summer after they fruited, providing guidance about where to look for fresh ones the following late Summer or Fall.
