I just love this tree and saw a very large one at Grants farm that was tremendous. The branches have a very graceful weeping habit and the older one exhibitied more separation accentuating the beauty of it all. I am considering taking down a wild cherry right next to it; hate to because they are so bird beneficial but I think this deserves the complete space. Can anyone help me with more information on this tree?

Overall the growth pattern and fruit pattern matches but my leaf has a nodules of some type. Is this just a different strain of hackberry than what I am seeing pictured?

The hanging balls are fruits, the blemishes on the leaves a health problem.

Look like Eriophyid mite galls; not a serious problem, no treatment needed.
