I moved into a house and inherited a garden. I know nothing about gardens. Most of the plants I have been able to identify just by searching the Internet, but this one eludes me. I "think" this is some sort of salvia but can't figure out what kind; if that's what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If not identified soon try showing more of the foliage.

We get a regular stream of those Bed, Bath & Beyond mailers too.

That's the entire plant if you can believe it. It's not very big and unfortunately, I cannot get a better picture with my camera. Well, maybe I can get a better shot of the leaves. Let me try that.

EDIT: I just can't get a good shot of the leaves. I did take a picture of the ones that were growing in the backyard before we cut the grass.

Looks like a species of Ajuga to me, probably either Ajuga reptans or Ajuga genevensis (both of which are listed by USDA as naturalised in MD).
