Dispite my best care, this Rhodo is not doing well. I've already pruned several times and this is almost in need if another pruning to remove what looks like drought stressed leaves. A close inspection revealed nothing obvious. Perhaps it's something in-ground?

    Cheers, LPN.

Root or stem rot. Well-drained, cool soil required for rhododendrons. Very apt to develop rots caused by water molds if drainage not excellent, sun beats on soil around them and heats it up. Cannot be grown in very hot and wet climates even if well-shaded.

Interesting. This one is in perhaps my most shaded and coolest garden locations. I believe this Rhodo receives no direct sun only dappled light in late afternoon. No temps over 94F this year and even then just a day of such temps.
I'm tempted to up-root this and have a look at the root system.

Roots seem fine. Must be something above ground.
