I have been battling thimble berry and now salmon berry too in my woodland garden by trying to pull them out by the roots once or twice a year. This isn't working as the problem is getting worse.

How can I remove these weeds more permanently?

You may not want them, but I think it's unfair to call them weeds. They're native plants, and the very ones I am encouraging!

    Hi
When salmon berries volunteered their presence, we dug to the roots to remove them. Where we dug them out we had no further problem. We moved our salmon berry plants to a different place in the yard where we wanted them.
Sorry I am not familiar with thimble berry.
Hope this helps, I know it is hard work.
