This is my first post. I'm thinking about growing some vines along a fence....wisteria (which grows well somewhere else in the yard) or clematis or passionflower....my question is how invasive are the roots? My septic field is 10 feet from the fence. Can I plant any of these vines along the fence? I want to be able to leave them permanently.

    Thanks

If you are worried about plant thuggery wisteria is one of the worst choices for you. Huge woody vine that pulls down small structures with its weight, unless contained with regular pruning and training, and even does stuff like send sheets of piano-wire-like runners across the surface of the soil: think of John Carpenter's The Thing.
