I have never heard of Beef Tomatoes as such. Could it be a Big Beef or a Bush Beefsteak tomato? A Big Beef tomato is an indeterminate tomato, which means it will grow until something makes it stop. Indeterminate tomatoes are often topped to stop them growing and to encourage the ripening of the fruit. A Determinate or Bush tomato grows to a set point and then stops. Bush tomatoes will often only grow to only 2-3 feet. Unless you know the exact variety, I don't know of anyway to tell.

    Good luck with your tomato.

Height will depend on variety (genetics) and available nutrients.

The first year in a new house, the vegetable garden, including tomatoes did very poorly. The soil was very sandy, held water poorly, and probably had little nutrient. In the fall, Dad and son hauled home many feed bags of moderately composted manure. It was spread about 5" deep, and rototilled in. The next year the tomatoes were trimmed with hedge trimmers to keep then down to where 5' Mom could reach to pick.
