    Two photos
    1. Close-up view of the beautiful and rather unique Asclepias speciosa (Showy Milkweed) flower photographed in Summerland, BC. Photo emphasizes the 5 near white hoods and horns (collectively called the corona) that are outgrowths of the filaments as well as the central gynostegium (beneath the tips of the crossed horns) composed of the stigmatic disc surrounded by the fused stamens. The 5 reflexed pink petals appear out of focus in the background.
