Just for the fun of it, I got some some rose seeds from ripe rose hips and I'm wishing to grow some rose plants. Already tried stem cuttings. I love to be trying new ways to grow regular old plants. Has anyone tried that? Any tips? I took out the seeds, washed them, dried them...

They're easy, gardening magazines have had articles promoting it. Modern hybrids often bloom small, in a variety of colors. Next time don't dry the seeds, drying of seeds is likely to induce dormancy that may take a long time to overcome, whereas seeds kept moist from harvest to sowing may come up rather quickly. I'm talking about seeds in general here, not roses specifically. Maples are even held up if you let the samaras become firm and brown, picking them while still green and soft is supposed to be much better. Dried samaras of paperbark maple may even trap the embryos inside, causing complete failure.
