Beech nuts

    Can anyone tell me why the Beechnut trees in my area (Northeast Pennsylvania) have not produced any mast (nuts) in the past five years, What can I do to help them Thank You.

    are there empty hulls? any chance the squirrels are beating you to the nuts? :)

    Beech are (like oaks) periodical-fruiting trees, they have a heavy crop one year, then 3 or 4 blank or nearly blank years, then another heavy crop. Five years between crops is longer than usual, but far from unknown.

    Might be worth getting a soil test done to see if it is deficient in any nutrients.
