Unknown desert wildflower

    I saw this flower just outside Alamogordo, New Mexico in early June.

    Any ideas???

    Looks like a Sphaeralcea.

    My first thought was Sphaeralcea angustifolia too, but flowers are somewhat different.
    As it is from Alamogordo, -- may be a Trinity test mutant? :-)

    Looks to be within the range of variation for the flowers of Sphaeralcea angustifolia, if online images are accurately identified.
