Who can identify this lovely vine ? I dont know if it's Ivy, parthenocissus, Ampelopsis or anything else but it's very nice ! By the way what persistant plant would you recommend to cover a wall on a house located near Bordeaux, France (USDA 8 zone) ? Maybe, it could a good idea to put different species depending on the exposition (for example, clematis on the south wall and Ivy on north). This would also help to decrease the moisture that infiltrate the old wall of the house.
It is Parthenocissus. P. tricuspidata has simple leaves palmately lobed with three lobes. P. quinquefolia has 5 lobed leaves. http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=pa...&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=1247&bih=496 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parthenocissus_quinquefolia
I think he is saying that without a detail photo he cannot tell which plant is illustrated in your photo. If you have access to the home, you may be able to go back and determine how many lobes are found on each leaf. Wonderful picture - very magical place.
If the resolution of your original image is high, try to cut out a piece of it and zoom in. You may be able to see the leaves, then.
