Hi there! A friend is giving me a Gunnera to add to my tropical plants collection. Is it ok to keep this plant in a pot indefinitely as long as it's well watered? I sure hope so!
    Thanks for your help.

If one of the species grown outdoors in Vancouver (as in QE Park Quarry Garden and VanDusen BDG Prehistoric Garden) would be easier to manage in ground, plus have room to become impressive. Even in a large tub it will be dwarfed by the confinement.

Ron's right. These need root space to develop, and will easily break apart a poly container. They eventually get emmense and too big for many city lots. Arrowsmith garden center on the Port Alberni hwy has some massive specimens on display. Enormous Gunnera are also seen around Ucluelet and Tofino.
