cutting back Iris

  1. When is the proper time to cut the growth back, on Iris that have already bloomed?

    Hi

    I generally dead head the iris after bloom and before seeds can develope, and the leave them till the fall or early spring for the rest of the foliage.

    Doug, Thanks for the response. Last year we cut the folliage back way too eary and got new growth before fall. What are the seed pods of the iris good for? Can they be planted? Thanks David

    You can plant them as to what type/colors may come up is always interesting.
