You should check out Acer plamatum beni-maiko. It has a great pink colour in spring and fall . I like a lot better than the other 2.

I would agree with whis4ey, Ap 'Shin deshojo' is by far one of the best japanese maple trees. I have found in a side by side comparison with most all of the similar culitvars that Shin deshojo is the most vivid of them all.

Then again, who am I to say when I try and have one of them all

Hello rwinktown and amazingmaples, thank you for your replies.
Im going to choose only one because i have others in mind and the space is limited, also i have already too many plants.
By the way, will this Acer show his beautiful pink colour in a north facing balcony?
It only gets 30/40 minutes of evening sun in the summer months, i am going to put him in a 40/40 Diameter/height conteiner.
The other Acers that im planning to get are these:
    Acer palmatum 'Murakumo'
    Acer palmatum 'Biho
    Acer palmatum 'Sister Ghost'
    Thank you.

I find that shin deshojo in shade is pretty good since the red/pink color of spring does not fade out as quick.

Murakumo is a very nice tree, I keep mine in deep shade to keep the white color. I have found it to bun quickly in medium sun.

Bihoo is great for winter branch color and ok for the rest of the year. It seems more like a dwarf to small tree.

Sister Ghost is one of my favorites.

    Thanks amazingmaples.
Just one more thing, with your personal experience do you know more Maples that will look "striking" good in North Facing zones?

For striking trees in shade, here are some of my favorites

Acer shiresawanum 'Aureum' (has great summer green color in shade)
Acer palmatum 'Amagi shigure' (problably is great in sun also)
    Acer palmatum 'Ukigumo'
Acer palmatum 'Orange Dream' (has great summer green color in shade)
Acer palmatum ' Sister Ghost' 'First Ghost' is nice
    Acer palmatum 'Murakumo'
Acer palmatum 'Tiger Rose' (there are a few other trees similar to this and SG & FG which are great)
    Acer palmatum 'Tsuma gaki'
    Acer palmatum 'Sagara nishiki'
Acer palmatum 'Filigree' My favorite green dissectum

Many of these can be in sun but I have found their colors to be best in shade areas.

    Hello
Thanks a lot for the replies:)

Loll, you are all right about that, my first intention was to get Shin Deshojo (By the way, it was this tree that brought me into this) then i started to search a bit more and with the help of this forum i found an immensity of amazing Maples and leaf colours... Every post that i visited i added a new one for the list...
Now with your help and your replies i am going to make some changes again:) lol

    DelsJapaneseMaples:
I didnt know Beni tsukasa, its a beautifull tree to have, maybe in another time..
By the way why do you favor deshojo over shindeshojo?

    amazingmaples:
I liked a lot of the Maples on that list, i was searching for an Acer dissectum cultivar and i intended to get Siter Ghost for is yellow/gold leaf colour in the fall, but that "Filigree" caught my eye and now i will problably go for this one.

Well, i will just order from Esveld in the end of September so i have time to think.
When i receive the Maples i will post some pics.

Thank you very much to all.
