I would like to know what tropicals are available that are tolerant of chlorine in the air associated with indoor swimming pools. Our local rec centre would like to put some plants around the pool, but don't know what to get.

Sunset WESTERN GARDEN BOOK has a list in the plant selection section near the front. Not indoor-oriented specifically, but most of those plants listed are subtropical/tropical anyway.

Adding plants in the pool area does not require some thought and consideration. The idea is to make the area more inviting but not increase maintenance. Face it, some plants can be pretty but are also messy, they may drop leaves or flower petals and that’s where the problem comes in. stay away from ‘pool plants’ like petunias or geraniums, when the leaves of flowers fall by the pool or deck it can get messy. Swimming pool landscaping still have the basic considerations pool owners in any region must confront.
