Wildflowers: Identifying this Brown-Trunked Shrub in Sedona, AZ

    Good afternoon! I joined today to discover what sort of shrub, or perhaps even weed or tree the attached is.

    It has a hard, dark brown stem/trunk and wide, thick green leaves. It was located along a hiking trail in Sedona, AZ and I would love to identify it because a family member indicated how much he liked it and I would like to see if I could order one for him. However, since all I have is this picture, a general description and location, I figured I should come here first!

    Please let me know if you can tell me what this is!
